Photo is in tones of blue.Photo shows threes persons.Dorcas california Burtchell on right. she was born in 1792 and given her middle name because she was the first child born to the family after their arrival here from Newark New Jersey. Mrs. burtchaell who for her good deeds and generous spirit was known as "The angel from Larkspur". Besides being an expert in the domestic arts, she could make medicines from herbs and roots, set bones, and apply splints. If a neighbor needed help in time of sickness, she would go any time of day or night regardless of the weather. she always took one of the boys to drive the buggy and "help out' She died in 1893. |
